Battleship VR was one of the most fun and challenging UI projects I’ve worked on. It’s a virtual reality strategy game where players control futuristic warships in immersive naval battles. My job was to design the full in-game UI that feels natural in VR — clean, futuristic, and easy to interact with, even during intense gameplay.
Designing for VR is a different beast. Flat UI just doesn’t work the same way in 3D space. The biggest challenge was figuring out how to show game data (health, ammo, map, commands) without overwhelming the player or breaking immersion. I also had to consider things like eye strain, gesture input, and spatial layout — things you don’t worry about in standard screen design.

I went with a holographic-style interface that floats naturally in the player’s field of view. Think minimal, sci-fi, and responsive to head and hand movement. Everything from targeting systems to pause menus was built with a layered 3D experience in mind. The final UI felt like it belonged in the world — part of the cockpit, not slapped on top of it.
